Live Oak Vineyard - 160 Acres

Live Oak Vineyard Click on the Pictures for a larger view   The Live Oak Vineyard is also the location of the Russell residence.   It is located on a very steep hillside off highway 46 west, about five miles south of Paso Robles at approximately 1,600 feet elevation.   This vineyard is in the coolest area of Paso Robles with temperatures similar to Russian River and Carneros in Sonoma.   The vines are all planted one meter by two meters in very heavy limestone soils.
The Live Oak property is 160 acres with about 110 acres planted with vineyards and approximately four acres planted with Tuscan olive trees.   Grape varietals planted on this vineyard are: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, and Cabernet Franc.   In 2006 we will begin planting Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Grenache Noir and Mourvedre with very close spacing similar to how the French plant their vineyards in the Cote Rotie sub-region of the Rhone.
