Sonoma County Reserve OVZ Zinfandel |
|
|
The grapes for our OVZ Zinfandel come from several small old vine vineyards in Russian River Valley, Dry Creek and Alexander Valley. These vineyards produce low crop yields that contribute to an intense flavor rarely found in young vines. Our OVZ is fermented in small lots and left on the skins for weeks. It is then pressed directly to French and American oak barrels and left to age. The wine is loaded with concentrated scents of raspberry and blackberry with hints of chocolate, spice and pepper. This combination of flavors is enhanced by sweet, smoky vanilla oak, which produced a wonderful taste sensation. Although this Zinfandel is large in body-possessing soft tannins that will age for three to five years, it has a soft, round velvety mouth- feel to be enjoyed at a young age. |

| THREE PUFFS Rabbit Ridge Zinfandel Sonoma County OVZ Reserve 1995 $26 |
Absolutely keyed on optimally ripened berry-like fruit that leaps forward at every stop here from its clean, keenly focused
aromas to its intense oak-sweetened flavors, this engaging, impeccably mannered wine never once wavers from
its alluring fruit-first stance. If a little tough at the finish as befits its relative youth, this most handsome effort ends with a very long and very rich flourish of berries and oak, and
given three to five years, it should smooth nicely and display increased complexity and range.
