Russian River Valley PINOT NOIR FRANK JOHNSON VINEYARD |
|
|
Our Pinot Noir comes from the cool Russian River Valley, which is known for producing much of the most
highly rated Pinot Noir in the country. We produce this wine in the traditional French Burgundian style by
fermenting whole berries in small half-ton bins. The process is quite labor intensive, as the bins are manually
punched-down day and night, allowing the fermentation to be as slow as possible. The wine is then pressed into
small French oak barrels and allowed to age for months. The result is a rich, spicy Pinot Noir with distinct
cherry flavors. We are proud to present our fourth vintage of this exquisite and elegant wine. The 1995 vintage
was awarded a silver medal at the 1997 Sonoma County Harvest Fair, and the 1996 vintage merited
a silver medal at the 1998 Orange County Fair Wine Awards. Enjoy this Pinot with lamb, pork, oriental dishes
and light pasta fare.
