Rabbit Ridge Participates in the
10th Annual Winemaker’s Invitational Cook-Off

On Saturday, August 9th 2008, Rabbit Ridge winery was one of over 30 participating wineries in the 10th Annual Winemaker’s Invitational Cook-Off.   This event is sponsored each year by our local Paso Robles Rotary Club in order to raise money for local high school scholarships.   All of the proceeds from this event go to the Paso Robles Rotary Club’s Harlow Ford Scholarship Foundation.   Since the start of this event 10 years ago, the Winemaker’s Cook-Off has raised more than $300,000.

The Winemaker’s Cook-Off is a fun, spirited event which boasts a “no rules” theme.   Each of the wineries are responsible for creating a BBQ dish to serve to eager customers who also receive a taste of wine to compliment the food.   All of the wineries are then judged by the customers as well as a seasoned panel of professional culinary experts.

Joanne James Russell of Rabbit Ridge was our chef!   Robert Pierce helped with the BBQ pit, while Erich Russell (A.K.A. “The Rabbit”), Jessica Tubb, Maria Rodriquez and Jackie Pierce all helped serve the food and wine at our self-titled “Shrimp Shack.”   Joanne created a Barbequed Garlic Chipotle Shrimp that we called “Not So Skimpy Scampi.”   The jumbo shrimp were marinated in fresh orange juice and garlic, drizzled with a chipotle aioli and served over cornbread.   To accompany these delectable jumbo shrimp, we served our 2007 Estate Grown Grenache Blanc.
