RABBIT RIDGE

2002 Paso Robles (L.P.R.) Grand Reserve Russell Family Vyd. ($25.00-$30.00)     Score 87
2002 Paso Robles Sarah's Syrah Russell Family Vyd. ($25.00-$30.00)     Score 86
2002 Paso Robles Syrah Cristalla ($25.00-$30.00)     Score 85

"These fruity, straightforward reds, which all possess substantial alcohol, offer attractive value.   With nearly 16% alcohol, the 2002 Sarah's Syrah Russell Family Vineyard reveals a bit of heat in the finish, but I enjoyed its beefy, cassis character.   A broad attack is followed by a potent midsection with good size as well as plenty of straightforward fruit.   My favorite of this trio is the bistro-styled 2002 (L.P.R.) Grand Reserve.   A pleasant, elegant red with both style and character, this medium-bodied, fruity, spicy effort will drink well for 1-2 years.   Lastly the 2002 Syrah Cristalla exhibits notes of ripe cassis, licorice, and underbrush.   Drink this medium-bodied, straightforward Syrah over the next 2-3 years."
