VINEYARD PROFILE
The 2006 Paso Robles Meritage Reserve Estate Grown Red Wine is produced from grapes grown on three of our Paso Robles vineyards.   The first is our Live Oak Road vineyard located in the hills on the north side of Highway 46 West.   This vineyard is one of the highest in Paso Robles, located at 1,600 feet elevation.   In addition, this vineyard has large amounts of limestone in the soil with an average soil pH of approximately 8.   The vineyards' south facing position allows all the grape varieties in this wine to ripen at the same time.  This allows us the rare opportunity to pick, crush and ferment all the fruit in the same tank for additional flavor and consistency.   The second vineyard is located on the way to Lake Nacimiento on Vista Serrano Road.   This vineyard is also rich in limestone soil.   The third is Cristalla Ranch which surrounds the main winery on San Marcos Road.

TASTING NOTES
Enjoy rich flavors of blackcurrant, cedar and dark chocolate. This wine will age as well as your cellar conditions allow.

WINEMAKER'S COMMENTS
Meritage is made from a blend of premium red wine grapes including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot.   The word Meritage was derived by combining the words merit and heritage and should only grace the labels of very special blends.   For optimum grape quality we planted the vines three feet by six feet and maintain low picking yields of fewer than two tons per acre.   This wine was barrel aged in American, French and Hungarian oak for approximately 23 months.   Meritage is 100% natural fruit with no added acid and no fining or filtration.   Bottled August 1, 2008.   390 cases produced.
