VINEYARD PROFILE
Our 2006 Paso Robles Estate Grown Mourvèdre is produced from grapes grown on our Vista Serrano Vineyard, located on the way to Lake Nacimiento. This vineyard is rich in limestone soil. TASTING NOTES This is a full-bodied, well balanced wine with superb structure and rounded tannins. This unique red wine compliments a variety of cuisine but is truly extraordinary when paired with Mediterranean fare. Mourvèdre is well-suited to aging. Some connoisseurs prefer to age their Bandols for six to ten years. WINEMAKER'S COMMENTS
Rabbit Ridge Mourvèdre was produced from grapes grown on estate vineyards in Paso Robles, California. Mourvèdre is an eccentric red grape originating from the southern Rhone. Mourvèdre is a strong base of any Bandol red wine, contributing both body and spice. In addition, Mourvèdre is one of the principal grapes in Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines and is the main varietal in the famous Chateau de Beaucastel wines. Mourvèdre is an extremely difficult grape to grow and is a very late variety in both bud break and ripening season. Because the fruit ripens late it must be completely mature before picking to reveal its characteristically earthy and complex aromas of truffles, bark and dark chewy fruit. Bottled July 25, 2008. Only 143 cases produced. Visit the "Awards and Reviews" page on our website for a complete list of awards on our wines. |
