VINEYARD PROFILE
The 2005 Paso Robles Brunello Clone Sangiovese is produced primarily from grapes grown on our Cristalla Ranch vineyard, which surrounds the main winery on San Marcos Road.   The vines from this vineyard are from an old clone that was grafted for Rabbit Ridge.   Additional fruit in this wine came from our Live Oak Road vineyard in the hills on the north side of Highway 46 West.   This vineyard is one of the highest in Paso Robles, located at 1,600 feet elevation.   In addition, this vineyard has large amounts of limestone in the soil with average soil pH of approximately 8.   Lastly, fruit was added from our Vista Serrano vineyard, located on the way to Lake Nacimiento.   This vineyard is also rich in limestone soil.

2005 GROWING SEASON
The 2005 California growing season was much like the 1997 growing season; long and cool giving the grapes plenty of hang-time.

WINEMAKER'S COMMENTS
Sangiovese is the primary grape varietal used in the world famous Chianti blend of Italy's Tuscany region.   Our 2005 Sangiovese is grown on Brunello clone scion imported from Pertimallo in Montalcino, Italy.   For optimum grape quality we plant our vines 3 feet by 6 feet and maintain low picking yields of less than two tons per acre.   This Sangiovese was aged for approximately 11 months in American, French and Hungarian barrels.

TASTING NOTES
This Sangiovese has the exceptional fruit, complexity, intense aromas and aging characteristics.   Enjoy pleasant flavors of raspberry, plum, and toasty vanilla.
