VINEYARD PROFILE
Our 2005 Paso Robles Syrah 40 is produced from grapes grown on two of our vineyards on the west side of Paso Robles. The first is Cristalla Ranch which surrounds the main winery on San Marcos Road. The second vineyard is located on Live Oak Road in the hills on the north side of Highway 46 West. This vineyard is one of the highest in Paso Robles, located at 1,600 feet elevation. This vineyard has large amounts of limestone in the soil with an average soil pH of 8. Visit the "Awards and Reviews" page on our website for a complete list of awards on our wines. |

WINEMAKER'S COMMENTS
When this wine was pressed after fermentation it was sent straight to French oak barrels where it rested for over 40 months. There has been nothing added to this wine except for yeast and it was bottled the day after it was pumped out of barrels. Some of the best wine in the famous Cote Rotie region of France spends an extended amount of time in barrels. Our Syrah 40 was made to emulate these fantastic wines. TASTING NOTES Our Syrah 40 is not your typical high alcohol "fruit bomb" but is a very balanced wine that should continue to age gracefully. Bottle May 19, 2009. 295 cases produced. |
