VINEYARD PROFILE
The 2006 Paso Robles Estate Grown Syrah is produced primarily from grapes grown on our Live Oak Road vineyard, located in the hills on the north side of Highway 46 West. This vineyard is one of the highest in Paso Robles, located at 1,600 feet elevation. In addition, this vineyard has large amounts of limestone in the soil with an average soil pH of approximately 8. The fruit included in this wine comes from two different clones of Syrah; the Estrella clone and Entav 877. Additional fruit was added from our Cristalla vineyard which surrounds the main winery on San Marcos Road. WINEMAKER'S COMMENTS For optimum grape quality, we plant our vines 3 feet by 6 feet and maintain low picking yields of less than two tons per acre. This Syrah was aged for approximately 19 months in American and French oak barrels. Bottled July 17, 2008. 1,211 cases produced. |
