VINEYARD PROFILE
The 2004 Paso Robles Vortex Red Wine, Live Oak Road Vineyard Reserve is produced from grapes grown on our Live Oak Road vineyard located in the hills on the north side of Highway 46 West.   This vineyard is one of the highest in Paso Robles, located at 1,600 feet elevation.   In addition, this vineyard has large amounts of limestone in the soil with an average soil pH of approximately 8.  The vineyards' south facing position allows all the grape varieties in this wine to ripen at the same time.  This allows us the rare opportunity to pick, crush and ferment all the fruit in the same tank for additional flavor and consistency.

TASTING NOTES
Enjoy rich flavors of blackcurrant, dark cherry, raspberries and violets.  This wine will age as well as your cellar conditions allow.

WINEMAKER'S COMMENTS
Our Rabbit Ridge "Vortex" was named for the powerful hurricanes that swirl through Florida.   A "vortex" is a circular motion of a hurricane, or the swirl of wine in a glass.   Vortex is made from a blend of red wine grapes including Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, Petite Sirah.   For optimum grape quality we planted the vines three feet by six feet and maintain low picking yields of fewer than two tons per acre.   This wine was barrel aged in American, French and Hungarian oak for approximately 23 months.     Vortex is 100% natural fruit with no added acid and no fining or filtration.  Only 391 cases produced.
