Sonoma County ZINFANDEL |
|
|
Our Sonoma Zinfandel is harvested from old-vine dry-farmed vineyards in Sonoma County. It is fermented in small tanks and then pressed into new American and French oak barrels where it is allowed to age. This Zinfandel has great flavors of jam and spicy berry. The wine's soft tannins and exceptional balance, coupled with great body and color, produce a wine of exceptional complexity and taste. Our '92, '93, '94 and '95 vintages have received numerous accolades, including a placement in Wine Spectators 1997 Top 100 Wines, a gold medal at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair and two puffs in Connoisseurs Guide. Additionally, the '96 vintage was awarded a silver medal at the 1998 Pacific Rim International Wine Competition and a bronze medal at the Orange County Fair Wine Awards. Currently awarded, the 1997 vintage won Food and Wine Magazine's "Best Buy-Red Wine Value", presented in the 1999 awards issue. |

Almost wholly keyed on the bright berr-ish fruit, this well-scrubbed, neatly balanced bottling uses oak
as a subtle seasoning and shows an attractive sense of polish from its clean aromas through to its lingering,
lightly tannic finish. Never bombastic, it drinks beautifully with lighter pork entrees at present and should
grow a bit over the next two to three years.

| ONE PUFF Rabbit Ridge Vineyards Sonoma County 1996$14 |
Here is a fruity, nicely balanced wine that shows lots of immediate appeal. Its lightly toasty, berr-ish aromas convey a bit of juicy succulence, and, while always
on the bright and lively side, so too do its medium-deep flavors have an inviting sense of juicy fruit. If still a little ragged around the edges, the wine commends early drinking by dint of its engaging vitality, and service with a savory rack of barbecued ribs should show it
at its very best
